I'm assigned to the Germany Hamburg Mission! I go to the Provo MTC on March 10th and then on to Germany about eight weeks later. I'm really excited! I would love to hear from you when I'm in Germany! I will return home sometime in fall 2011.
If I'm not mistaken, Grandpa Calder spent part of his mission in Germany, as did Great Great Grandfather Eyring. Others of our ancestors did too, I think.
We are so excited for you, Lizzie! We all have ties to Germany through the Eyrings and Grandpa Calder's mission there, as well your own dad's and brother John's ties. We'll look forward to learning more about Germany and the members of the Church there through your experiences. Keep us advised about farewell activities and your addresses. Much love, Gretta
ReplyDeleteCongratulations Liz! Isn't it too bad you're not going to New Delhi? When you write your farewell talk Jenny and I would love a copy.

Wonderful! We are really looking forward to hearing about your missionary experiences. I know you will take great care of my relatives. A majority of the Flindt family still lives in Schleswig Holstein and nearby Denmark. The German speaking portions should be in your mission (map: www.maps-of-germany.co.uk/map-of-schleswig-holstein.htm)
ReplyDeleteAs a side note, one of my mission companions in Switzerland was originally from Hamburg. He vehemently claimed that only the Hamburgers (a citizen of Hamburg) spoke "pure" high German.
We are so excited for all those Germans! They are so lucky to have you headed their way. What an exciting call. I can't wait to hear all the details. I hope that you keep up your blog or cc your letters home. Thank you for sharing the news!
